We asked to hear from Taranaki school students about what they think a low-emissions future looks like for our region!

Students aged 7 and over compiled their ideas in a picture, piece of creative writing, or infographic/diagram. When creating an entry, we encouraged students to think about one or more of the following:

  • How old will you be in 2050? What do you want Taranaki to be like then?
  • What do you love about Taranaki?
  • What do you want to make sure stays the same in to the future?
  • What might our transport systems be like? How will students get to school in the future? How will we transport people and things?
  • What will our houses be like? What about the offices where people work or the factories where things are made?
  • How will we power everything? Do you think our energy requirements will stay the same? Could we be more efficient?
  • What will the environment be like? What will our relationship with the environment be like?
  • What will people do for work in Taranaki? Will our jobs stay the same or will there be new types of jobs and industries?
  • How will technology change the way we do things in the future?
  • What will people do for fun in the year 2050? What will it be like to live in Taranaki?
