It was the biggest turnout yet for the first He Toronga Pakihi ki Taranaki networking event of te tau hou.

More than 40 people turned out to the first networking event of the Māori New Year, to hear kōrero about financial acumen. The event was hosted by BNZ at the BNZ Partners Centre in New Plymouth, and the first speaker was Senior Associate Dan Page, with a presentation about BNZ business service and a special message from the BNZ Māori business team.

Next to speak were Wharhoka Wano and Hemi Sundgren, representing Taranaki and Te Atiawa iwi, with the new Ka Uruora programme, a joint initiative aimed at increasing the financial independence and wellbeing of whānau. This exciting programme includes a savings top-up for Kiwisaver, as well as a mortgage top-up option for eligible whānau. Click here to find out more about Ka Uruora.

The networking went on until nearly 8pm, with people keen to share ideas and get to know one another. It was great to see so many new faces, as well as the regular members of the network.
